PROJECT: EEP MARKET LANDSCAPE STUDY – MINISTRY FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF FINLAND

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland commissioned DEM (DEM-ESB) to undertake a market landscape study of 15 countries in southern and East Africa to develop a snapshot of the status of energy access in the region and identify opportunities to promote its proliferation. The Study identified trends and barriers within the energy access market as well as the opportunities for the Energy and Environment Program (EEP) to support the private sector in harnessing energy access market potential. In line with the Fund Manager’s objectives (Nordic Develop- ment Fund), the market study provided the basis for ensuring that the support provided will promote the achievement of the SDGs targeting poverty reduction, climate change, and access to sustainable energy.
